GHI "Brown Bag" Event Focused on Experiential Learning as a Critical Dimension of Global Health Education
During a GHI "brown bag" event on October 31, Bernhard Liese, director of the Master of Science in Global Health Program in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and chair of the Department of International Health in the School of Nursing and Health Studies, described the department's efforts to focus on experiential learning in global health education.
Myriam Vuckovic, associate professor in the Department of International Health and director of the Bachelor of Science in Global Health program, discussed the impact of experiential learning and report on the department's recent alumni survey.
Edward Healton, executive vice president for health sciences and executive dean of the School of Medicine, introduced Liese and Vuckovic and offered remarks on the GHI's support of interdisciplinary research, service, and education—an important component of the university’s commitment to global health.
This event was part of a series of lunches that serve as opportunities for sharing lessons from our extensive academic offerings in global health, as well as provide a platform for faculty to learn about each other's work and identify potential areas for collaboration. The lunches are open to Georgetown faculty and students across all campuses and schools.
