Fondazione Bruno Kessler
The Fondazione Bruno Kessler (“FBK”) is top research institute, with 2 scientific hubs, 7 research centers, 410 researchers, 2 specialized libraries, and 7 laboratories. A quality of research ANVUR evaluation for the period 2010-14 ranked it 1st in Italy for scientific excellence within 3 different subject areas (ICT, History and Sociology) and for its economic and social impact. FBK aims to advance science and technology, with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches and to the applicative dimension.
To further this goal it participates in collaborations and exchange activities with research organizations, both institutional and corporate, national and international, which extend their innovation capability and involve their community and the local economy in the circulation of knowledge and technologies; such partnerships include the National Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems (AIIS), which is comprised of 600 Italian researchers from 40 universities and top research centers, such as FBK, the National Research Council (CNR) and the Italian Institute of Technology, and the Confederation of Laboratories for Artificial Intelligence Research in Europe (“CLAIRE”), a European artificial intelligence initiative with more than 1,800 supporters. A particular focus of FBK over the period of 2018-28 will be on AI.
