Elanah Uretsky

Elanah Uretsky is a visiting assistant professor of anthropology at Brandeis University. She is a medical anthropologist whose interests lie at the nexus of gender, sexuality, governance, and disease in China. Elanah is a participant in the Initiative for U.S. -China Dialogue on Global Issues faculty research group on global health.
International activities include:
- Conducted extensive ethnographic research on China’s HIV epidemic, including her most recent publication Occupational Hazards: Sex, Business, and HIV in Post-Mao China (2016).
- Serves as a Public Intellectual Fellow with the National Committee on United States-China Relations.
- Serves as board member for the Beijing Gender Health Education Institute.
