Zhang Xiliang

Zhang Xiliang is executive director of the Institute of Energy, Environment and the Economy at Tsinghua University. His research interests include energy technology innovation, integrated assessment of energy and climate policies, and renewable energy. He is a co-convener of the Initiative for U.S. -China Dialogue on Global Issues faculty research group on climate change.

  • Served as leader and expert in the expert group for drafting the China Renewable Energy Law during 2004 and 2005, and the China Circular Economy Law in 2007.
  • Lead author of the 4th and 5th IPCC Climate Change Assessment Reports and of the chapter "Energy" of China's National Climate Change Assessment Report.
  • Serves as vice chair of the China Renewable Energy Industry Association since 2011.
