Georgetown Law

Dr. Bedima Duut (L’24) is an LL.M. student at Georgetown Law in the global health law and governance program. He is a public health specialist and lawyer. He initially trained as a pharmacist, specializing in public health, before launching into legal practice. Originally from Ghana, he previously worked with Ghana’s Ministry of Health as a district director of health. He also practiced as a private legal practitioner, which allowed him to work at the convergence of public health and law. He is passionate about global health justice, including inequitable access to essential health services and medicines, particularly during pandemics. He strongly believes laws and processes of global governance for health can positively impact people's lives, especially the vulnerable. As a fall 2023 GHI student fellow, Bedima worked with Lawrence Gostin to provide research support for the second edition of his book Global Health Law as well as contribute to a project aiming to safeguard the rights of health and care workers.
