Fellowships to Attend the “Economy of Francesco” Gathering in Assisi

From March 26-28, 2020, Pope Francis will convene an international gathering in Assisi, Italy, around the theme “Economy of Francesco: Young People, a Commitment, the Future.” The deadline to apply is September 30, 2019.

The event will bring together young people under the age of 35 from around the world who are determined to make the economy of today and tomorrow, fair, sustainable, and inclusive. It will feature workshops, seminars, and lectures with leading experts in economics, sustainable development, and the social sciences, including Nobel laureates Amartya Sen and Muhammad Yunus.

Georgetown professional and graduate students and all Georgetown alumni under the age of 35 are eligible to apply. A bachelor’s degree is required. More information is available on the official website. The deadline for applications is September 30, 2019.

In order to encourage participation from the Georgetown University community, the Office of the President is making available up to 20 fellowships of $1,500 each to defray the cost of airfare and accommodation. Georgetown professional and graduate students and alumni under the age of 35 are eligible to apply.

Candidates should send a CV and a Word document with their copy and pasted short answers from the online application form to global@georgetown.edu by September 30, 2019. For those who are accepted to the Assisi gathering, a faculty committee will review and consider scholarships. Fellowship recipients will be asked to write short essays (500-750 words) about their experience and how the Georgetown community can help advance the ideas and priorities that emerge out of the gathering.
