International Travel Grants
International Travel Grants fund faculty presenting papers at major conferences outside the United States. These grants, of up to $1,250, defray the cost of airfare.
All full-time Georgetown faculty members are eligible to apply.
Grants support the presentation of original faculty research at major conferences outside the United States.
Topics should have some global, international, or transnational dimension.
Proposals will be considered by a faculty committee in March and October of each year. Applications for the fall 2018 round are now closed.
Applicants should submit their materials in one combined PDF file to firstname.lastname@example.org, with a subject line of “LASTNAME-International Travel Grant.” Applications must include:
- the application form
- a one- to two-page memo describing the importance of the conference in the discipline and the research to be presented
- the paper to be presented (in final or in draft/outline form)
All applicants should expect to receive confirmation of receipt of their applications.
In making its decisions, the committee will be guided by the academic merits of the proposal and the availability of funds.
Notification and Execution
The faculty committee will notify applicants of its decisions within a month of the submission deadline. Flights must then be booked through one of the university’s authorized travel agents by June 15 of the fiscal year in which the funds are awarded (July-June).
$7,500 has been budgeted for International Travel Grants for the fall 2018 round.
