The Challenges of AI for the EU

Black and white graphic of a brain

The remarkable increase in the innovation and use of artificial intelligence (AI) is associated with a range of policy challenges related to its regulation and governance, as well as a variety of security risks. This event will feature leading academics, prominent policymakers, and practitioners discussing Europe’s strategic choice in the AI era: should the continent invest in developing its own technologies, or focus on adopting AI developed in the United States and China into its production systems? These experts will examine the economic and geopolitical trade-offs of these paths and their implications for Europe’s future competitiveness.

This event is co-sponsored by the European Union- Next Generation EU, the European Research Council, and the Georgetown University Global Economic Challenges Network.
