Julie E. Fischer is an associate professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and co-director of the Center for Global Health Science and Security. She joined the Georgetown faculty in 2016.
International activities include:
- Served on the Council on Foreign Relations as an International Affairs Fellow.
- Served as a microbiologist with a Thai-U.S. collaboration aimed at strengthening Thailand’s capacities to identify and control emerging infections of regional and global significance.
- Previously directed the Stimson Center’s Global Health Security Program, exploring the tools, policies, and partnerships that strengthen global capacities for disease detection and response.
