Martin Ravallion is an Edmond D. Villani Professor in the Department of Economics in the College. He joined the Georgetown faculty in 2012.
International activities include:
- Acting chief economist and senior vice president of the World Bank; director of the World Bank's Development Research Group (2007-2012); senior fellow of the Bureau for Research in Economic Analysis of Development; founding council member and president of the Society for the Study of Economic Inequality; non-resident Fellow at the Center for Global Development; research associate for the National Bureau of Economic Research
- Awarded the John Kenneth Galbraith Prize from the American Agricultural and Applied Economics Association in 2012
- Awarded a BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award in 2016
- Author of four books and over 200 papers in scholarly journals and edited volumes; serves on the editorial boards of 10 economics journals.
