Sports Diplomacy Programs - U.S. Department of State

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and U.S. embassies and administered by the Center for Intercultural Education and Development (CIED) at Georgetown University since 2009, the Sports Diplomacy Programs are international people-to-people exchanges that build mutual tolerance, understanding, and cooperation through sports. CIED partners with Georgetown Athletics to allow student and alumni athletes to help administer programs via two models: Youth Camps, in which young aspiring athletes are mentored abroad, and Coach Training Workshops, in which coaches of youth teams develop skills for sports coaching, training, and working successfully with at-risk youth and players from communities in conflict.
