Der-Chen Chang is a professor and McDevitt Chair in Mathematics and Computer Science in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. He also serves as senior advisor to the Provost for China initiatives. He joined the Georgetown faculty in 1998.
Major international activities include:
- Awards from domestic and international institutions including: honorary degree in science (Fu Jen Catholic University, 2014), President’s Award for Distinguished Scholar-Teachers (Georgetown, 2013), Distinguished Alumni Award at National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan, 2013), and J. William Fulbright Scholar (2000-01), the Edward Bunn Award for Faculty Excellence (Georgetown, 2002), the Award for Excellence of Teaching (Georgetown, 2003)
- Visiting professor at more than 10 international institutions in five countries and regions, including the Lo-Jia Chair Professor at Wuhan University, University Chair Professor at Fu Jen Catholic University, and center scientist at the National Center for Theoretical Sciences (Taiwan)
- Author of over 220 articles in peer-reviewed journals and six books. Also serves as chief editor of one journal and associate editor of eight journals in the field of mathematics
