José Casanova is a professor in the Departments of Sociology and Theology in the College and senior fellow at the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs.
International activities include:
- Holding visiting or distinguished visiting professor positions at several institutions from 1985-2012, including EHESS, Freie Universität Berlin, and the Central European University.
- Received the Theology Prize from the Salzburger Hochschulwochen (2012)
- Author of four books and over one hundred publications.
- Public Religions in the Modern World (1994) has been translated into five languages.
