Phyllis Magrab
Dr. Phyllis Magrab, a well-known pediatric psychologist, is a senior advisor to the Georgetown University Global Health Institute and an endowed professor of pediatrics at Georgetown University School of Medicine, where she also holds a UNESCO chair. For over 50 years, Dr. Magrab has provided service, conducted research, shaped policy, and trained future professionals on behalf of vulnerable children and their families. She has had extensive global experience related to developing services and policies around social exclusion and health disparities, especially for children with mental health and special health care needs. Currently, among her many global activities, Dr. Magrab is a consultant to UNESCO and serves as the vice-chair of the US-Afghan Women’s Council, a public private partnership to advance the status of women and children in and from Afghanistan. The endowed Phyllis R. Magrab chair at Georgetown is named for her and dedicated to the continuation of her domestic and global work on behalf of vulnerable children. She is a member of the faculty committee for the Collaborative on Global Children's Issues.
