Osama Abi-Mershed is an associate professor in the Department of History in the College and director of the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies (CCAS) in the School of Foreign Service. He joined the Georgetown faculty in 2003.
International activities include:
- Author of one book and four chapters or articles, and editor of another book
- Twice recipient of competitive Oman research grant with CCAS and individual recipient of a Fulbright-Hayes fellowship for doctoral research abroad
- Research pertains to Middle East, North Africa and Western Mediterranean, Muslim Spain, colonial Algeria, colonial education, and Franco-Maghribi relations
