Raj Desai is an associate professor of international development in the Department of Government in the College, as well as the Asian Studies Program and Global Human Development Program in the School of Foreign Service. He is also a member of the India Initiative Faculty Advisory Committee. He joined the Georgetown faculty in 1999.
Major international activities include:
- Works as a non-resident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution where he specializes in economic reform, international development, and foreign aid.
- Contributed to the efforts to privatize and restructure public enterprises in post-Soviet Eastern Europe while working at the World Bank.
- Published over 20 articles in journals and books on international development and political economy.
