Matthew Kroenig

Matthew Kroenig is an associate professor in the Department of Government in the College and the School of Foreign Service. He joined the Georgetown faculty in 2008.

International activities include:

  • Author of The Return of Great Power Rivalry (forthcoming); The Logic of American Nuclear Strategy, (2018), A Time to Attack: The Looming Iranian Nuclear Threat (2014) and Exporting the Bomb: Technology Transfer and the Spread of Nuclear Weapons (2010); co-author of The Handbook of National Legislatures: A Global Survey (2009); co-editor of Causes and Consequences of Nuclear Proliferation (2011) and Nuclear Posture and Nonproliferation: Causes and Consequences for the Spread of Nuclear Weapons (2015); and author of more than 30 articles
  • Deputy director for strategy at the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security at the Atlantic Council
  • Twice served in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, including a 2010-2011 international affairs fellowship from the Council on Foreign Relations, during which he focused on Iran policy
