Asia-Pacific

Georgetown University has a rich history of academic engagement across East Asia and the Pacific, encompassing faculty and student exchange and strong institutional ties.

In January 2016 Georgetown launched an Initiative for U.S.-China Dialogue on Global Issues, a university platform for research, teaching, and high-level dialogue among American and Chinese leaders from the public sector, business, and the academy that addresses common challenges facing the global community. The Asian Studies Program in the School of Foreign Service offers a master's degree in Asian studies and is home to a National Resource Center for East Asia. The Chinese, Japanese, and Korean language programs within Georgetown College encompass language, literature, and cultural studies. And the Law Center's Law-Asia Center promotes scholarly exchange and joint research with colleagues across the region. Alongside Europe, the Asia-Pacific region is the second most popular destination for students and faculty. Two of Georgetown's most active international partners are Fudan University in Shanghai and Sophia University in Tokyo, a fellow Jesuit institution.
